This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the same level as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the county's top official conducted a ceremonial pardon event this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a current administration.

“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a prosperous future free from concern.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to emulate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, contributed by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people shouting “6-7” – deriving from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The phrase became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A New Life

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Every time, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
