The Latest Relaxed Playlist Ignites Intense Debates Over AI Players, Experience Points, and Queue Times
Recently, the game developers launched a fresh playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode mirrors the regular Breakthrough setup but features a few notable changes:
- Every squad has just eight human participants, with the rest filled by 32 bots.
- Activities done by human gamers grant complete experience points, while bot actions provide reduced XP.
- Just a pair of maps are available: Cairo Siege and Empire State map.
- Elements like Player tags, achievements, and career stat updates are disabled.
So essentially, this mode lives up to its name: it's a casual take of Breakthrough. At face value, you might think there's nothing wrong, as it provides additional choices for players looking for different methods to enjoy the title. However, gaming history has shown one thing, it is that you can't please everyone. In other words, many BF6 players are mad.
Player Responses: Anger to Support
"People want real players. Avoid making the mistakes of your rivals," reads one reply to the mode reveal. "Absolutely shocking idea," says another. At the same time, in community forums, a player remarks, "It's unclear where we are headed with this title," and another details all the issues they believe to be problematic in Battlefield 6: "Resolve glitches, address drone issues, correct rocket mechanics, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist."
However, amid the criticism, some gamers sharing how much they're liking the new mode. "It's very fun to practice, real players prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," says one Reddit comment. "The community fails to see that there are gamers who have lives and can't play this game all the time. Let them strike a balance," states another. A response on Twitter explains that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is perfect for me," while another praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition."
Valid Concerns and Community Input
All that said, there are valid points to complain about the new mode. A few folks have highlighted that it could increase queue times more extended for different playlists due to the large amount of playlists in the game already. On a similar note, certain regions already encounter AI-filled matches in the current modes. It also seems somewhat counterintuitive that the mode won't start without a required amount of real players, even though it focuses mostly on fighting AI opponents.
Lastly, one of the biggest grievances is that Battlefield Portal was meant to offer complete rewards, including AI matches, but that got canned when they attempted to eliminate XP farming from the system. So this new playlist seems like the player base meeting them in the middle, as per forum feedback. Another labels this mode as the devs "dropping the ball significantly, I experienced great enjoyment in the first couple of days, what prompted them to change it?"
Looking Ahead: Will Changes Occur?
If the development team has demonstrated something to date with the latest installment, it is that they're listening and responding to feedback. Assignments being too difficult got fixed very quickly, as did the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, if their data indicates this new playlist isn't performing to their standards, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
