Supporters Urge Detainment of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of the pop star are urging that a man who breached a barricade and touched the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A circulating footage reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the actors walked down a promenade flanked by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though legal records showed that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile features videos of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last winter.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Fans Voice Worry Over Grande's Safety
Several fans criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said another response on Instagram.
Some fans also criticised security officers at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while others demanded digital services to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In footage shared widely, Grande appeared startled when she was approached by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
