Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
