Weapon-carrying attackers have taken the life of an instructor and abducted at least 25 students in an assault against a female high school in the northwestern part of Nigeria, police reports indicate.
The armed faction stormed the public educational institution for female students in Maga, Kebbi State at approximately 04:00 local time on the beginning of the work week, police confirmed.
The attackers "exchanged fire with security forces on duty in a shootout" before climbing over the boundary wall and abducting the learners from their dormitory, authorities disclosed.
A school employee was fatally shot while defending the students. Another staff member suffered bullet injuries and is now being treated medically.
